Benton County is excited to announce this newly created position. We are looking for a solid waste professional to promote waste reduction and sustainability while managing the County's oversight of landfill and hauling franchises. In addition, in this position you will coordinate the County's compliance with state water quality mandates. This position is responsible for program planning, quality improvement, and implementing applicable state, federal, and local ordinances in a forward-looking and sustainability-focused manner. Works collaboratively with county staff in the sustainability, code enforcement, and planning programs, and staffs two citizen advisory committees. Acts as public contact for solid waste management program. Coordinates state-mandated water quality functions with Public Works and Community Development Departments. Summary of Essential Duties

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, business, physical sciences, engineering, sustainability, or other discipline related to solid waste management.
2 years experience in solid waste management field such as Subtitle D landfills, composting, materials recovery systems, reload facilities, transfer stations, waste-to-energy facilities, recycling centers, franchise agreements, contracts, or permitting.
Applicants must also possess:
Membership in the Oregon Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America or be able to become a member within 6 months of hire.
Membership in the Association of Oregon Recyclers or be able to become a member within 6 months of hire.
