Description of Work:
The primary purpose of the Operations Manager, WMR is to implement, maintain, and provide oversight and manage of the University's recycling and solid waste operations. This includes, but is not limited to, managing and monitoring collection services for campus buildings, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with applicable regulations, financial transactions and budgeting, and fleet management. In addition, the Operations Manager, WMR will work collaboratively with other departments and units and act as a resource for solid waste and recycling inquiries and manage staff and students within the unit.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or equivalent education/experience of 3 years in sustainability studies, environmental science, environmental studies, natural resource management, environmental education, or related field. Experience with environmental or natural resource management processes; equivalent education/experience considered. Word processing, spreadsheet, and database software program skills. Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices and policies. Experience must demonstrate excellent public speaking, customer service, and writing skills. Demonstrated ability to educate/teach others. Ability to wear all proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Ability to comply with safety policies and procedures. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate effectively regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment. Ability to lead, train, and effectively plan and schedule materiel pick up and delivery routes. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Class B Commercial Drivers License is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in sustainability studies, environmental science, environmental studies, natural resource management, environmental education or related field. Experience working with or supervising staff. Experience in recycling or related field (e.g. solid waste management, waste prevention, etc.). Experience working in governmental, higher education, or large corporation recycling programs.. Experience researching special materials for reuse and recycling options. Minimum of three years supervisory experience. LEED Green Associate certification is preferred.
Posted Salary: $50,000/yr minimum
