Competition # V1536 - Manager, Solid Waste Services
(Full-time, Exempt)
Closing Date: 4:30 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022
The Sunshine Coast Regional District is currently inviting applications for the exempt full-time position of Manager, Solid Waste Services. We offer a very competitive compensation package that includes a salary range that starts at $105,477 up to a merit maximum of $133,956, vacation that starts at 4 full weeks plus up to an additional 12 full days of paid compensatory leave in lieu of overtime, a full benefits package that commences upon employment that includes extended health and dental coverage, paid sick leave, family responsibility leave, short-term disability, group life insurance, eyewear, eye exams, long term disability benefits and accidental death & dismemberment coverage. We are currently operating in a hybrid work environment with flexible work schedules based upon a 35-hour week, all by mutual agreement. We are also pleased to offer a relocation allowance up to a maximum of $10,000 to help make the move just a little bit easier.
While the Sunshine Coast is a great place to eventually retire, this is anything but a retirement job. This role is an amazing leadership opportunity that will put your skills to the test, will challenge you, and then will reward you immensely as you successfully navigate the path that lies ahead. What would a typical day look like? A lot will depend on you, and this is your opportunity to demonstrate initiative. We need to continue planning for the future of our landfill, need to ensure that our programs are operating as efficiently as possible, need to continue collaborating with and developing our excellent team of dedicated staff, and we’ll need you to engage with all our stakeholders and put all your talents to use.
When you head home at the end of the day, the guarantee is that you will have a sense of fulfilment and then you get to go enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Speaking of these surroundings, if you have visited here, you know how amazing it is; if you haven’t, you really should check it out. Bordered by rugged mountains and situated on a peninsula (no, it’s not an Island) in the territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations, this area is known for its scenic coastline and sea life, mild winters, year-round green spaces, arts, recreation, and culture, and it is a preferred tourist destination and a great place to live, work and play. You can hike, bike, camp, kayak, golf, do fiber arts, snowshoe, fish, scuba dive, windsurf or as was portrayed in the former TV show on CBC, you could even get into some beachcombing and see what other treasures you might find here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
Interested in applying? Great and we will look forward to hearing from you! Please craft a cover letter and let us know what interests you about this role and what you have to offer. Please include a current resume and quote the competition number and submit it in confidence via EMAIL to Human Resources by the closing date and time shown above. Information about the educational and experience requirements, key responsibilities and typical tasks of this role are in the job description available with the website posting at www.scrd.ca/employment.
