This position is responsible for leading the development of sustainable waste and water strategies, policies, and programs for the City of Regina. The position is responsible for leading and participating on interdisciplinary professional teams in advancing sustainability initiatives including the role of internal consultant. This position is responsible for providing specialized professional advice to the corporation in the areas of sustainable waste and water management practices, policy development and program/project management. Includes the development and delivery of programs as outlined in Waste Plan Regina for all sectors, residential, industrial, institutional and commercial sector and the construction and demolition sector. This includes leading, developing and facilitating the development of policies, strategies, plans, programs, and projects related to sustainability and monitoring and evaluating progress in this high profile politically sensitive area of work. In addition, this position is responsible for planning and coordinating education and outreach activities to improve the understanding of waste and water management in the community. As well, the position is responsible for conducting public engagement and facilitation activities to form the development, implementation and promotion of various programs and projects.
This employee supervises staff in the development and delivery of sustainable waste programs.
This position supervises a functional business specializing in environmental policy as it relates to waste and water programming, policy and service delivery. As such, the incumbent is required to lead, supervise, and mentor technical and junior staff and work collaboratively with colleagues or consultants with a diverse range of professional training
In this position, the incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgement, initiative, and decision-making authority to develop timely solutions to complex problems. Projects and assignments require a high degree of knowledge and ability to identify and solve problems related to implementation of policies and programs. This position must also maintain effective contacts and relationships with elected and appointed officials, stakeholder groups, citizens and staff within the City management structure.
This position reports to the Manager, Program Development & Delivery.
