Portage la Prairie Regional Landfill Landfill Manager
The Portage la Prairie Regional Landfill serves the City of Portage la Prairie, Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie and surrounding areas, providing essential solid waste management services in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective manner. We are currently seeking a highly organized and experienced Landfill Manager who will be responsible for the overall management, planning, and operation of the Portage la Prairie Regional Landfill. This includes supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing budgets, coordinating with municipal partners, overseeing waste diversion, environmental monitoring, and long-term site development plans for this Class 1 waste disposal facility.
Qualifications ? Minimum 5 years of experience in waste management, landfill operations, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. ? Possess or willing to acquire Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) Certificate issued by SWANA-NLC and Wastewater Operator Certification. ? Solid understanding of landfill engineering principles, environmental regulations, and safety practices. ? Possess knowledge in basic mathematics, science, and engineering. ? Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. ? Proficiency with Microsoft Office. ? Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Class 1 or 3 considered an asset. ? Experience operating heavy equipment considered an asset.
Work Location The position is based out of the Portage la Prairie Regional Landfill that is located approximately 35 km northeast of Portage la Prairie, 5 km west of the intersection of PR 227 and PR 430.
