 Job Summary 
 
 
 
 The City of Lawrence Municipal Services &#38; Operations Department is a full-service, front-line operational department. The department provides community services in infrastructure and maintenance (facilities &#38; structures, street and stormwater maintenance, pavement management, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment), engineering (engineering design and technical support, stormwater, utility and traffic engineering), services (solid waste, water, wastewater, fleet management, and administrative functions). Municipal Services &#38; Operations projects and services are vital to the growth, health, safety, comfort and quality of life for our community.

 Job Responsibilities 
 
 
 
 100%  -  The Project Engineer will assist with the planning, management, and oversight of a variety of engineering projects associated with City infrastructure and facilities. This position will act as project engineer/manager on infrastructure projects of a routine to moderately complex nature, providing highly technical input and reviewing project plans and specifications. Key responsibilities include coordinating engineering projects with government agencies, developers, contractors, and City staff; reviewing site plans and design reports; assisting with the development of bid documents and cost estimates; and construction management. Experience with water/wastewater or transportation projects is a plus. 
 
 
 Qualifications 
 
 
 
 Qualifications  -
 At minimum, requires: 
   
 1) Bachelor&#8217;s degree or equivalent with major course work in engineering, construction management, or a related field;   2) state recognition as an EIT, having passed the FE exam.   Additional experience and education may be considered in place of the EIT certification.   Project Engineer II must have 3+ years of increasingly responsible engineering and project management experience in projects directly related to infrastructure management (water, wastewater, stormwater, or transportation projects) and/or subdivision development and site planning.   The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people. Desire working experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, and GIS software. The successful candidate must have a valid driver&#8217;s license and pass a post-offer City physical and drug screen.

 1) Bachelor&#8217;s degree or equivalent with major course work in engineering, construction management, or a related field;   2) five (5) years of increasingly responsible engineering and project management experience in projects directly related to infrastructure management (water, wastewater, stormwater, or transportation projects), CIP planning, and/or subdivision development and site planning; and   3) possession of, or ability to obtain it through comity within 6 months, a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the State of Kansas   Additional experience, education, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be considered in place of the PE license. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people.  &#xa0; Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a Bachelor&#39;s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related area;&#xa0;four (4) years of managerial or administrative experience in planning and directing public works programs and services; and two (2) years of supervisory experience, which includes supervision of management-level personnel.&#xa0;Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:&#xa0; 
 
 Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) before employment; must possess registration in the State of Arkansas as a Professional Engineer (PE) within one (1) year of employment; must maintain registration for the duration of employment in this position. 
 Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver&#39;s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
