								<description>Waldorf, Maryland,  Operates gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment in a safe, efficient, and quality manner with a strong focus on customer service. Performs work in accordance with permits and applicable codes, standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. 
 
 
 
 
 
 &#xa0;Essential Job Functions: 
 
 
 
 
 
 Operates vehicles and equipment to include, but not be limited to, heavy duty trucks including articulated dump trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, compactors, and other equivalent vehicles and equipment at the landfill and remote sites. Inspects vehicle or equipment for any safety or other concerns prior to operation. Documents inspections or concerns as required. 
 Conducts work in a safe, efficient, and quality manner with a strong focus on customer service. Ensures all applicable codes, standards, regulations, policies, procedures, and permit requirements are followed.&#xa0; 
 Screens loads for prohibited waste. Redirects haulers if materials in the load need to be separated before unloading. 
 Moves and compacts waste to minimize cover requirements, settlement, vectors, and litter; reduce leachate production and odors;&#xa0;prevent contamination of groundwater and surface waters;&#xa0;and extend the life of the landfill. Maintains correct elevation levels throughout the landfill working face.&#xa0; 
 Hauls, measures, and monitors leachate levels. 
 Repairs and maintains stormwater, sediment, or erosion control systems at the landfill. 
 Documents and records fuel usage, equipment hours, leachate hauled, tank readings, and landfill grid locations in a clear, concise, and timely manner. 
 Recognizes and reports safety and solid waste compliance concerns to coworkers and supervisory staff. 
 Performs grounds maintenance as needed or requested. &#xa0; 
 Participates in emergency response plans as assigned. Responds to emergencies for road conditions, weather events, and debris management to include the removal, staging, reduction, recycling, processing, and disposal of debris caused by a major debris-generating event.

 Knowledge, Abilities and &#xa0; Skills (These are pre-employment KASs that apply only to Essential Job &#xa0; Functions.) 
 
 Knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and practices related to solid waste management. 
 Knowledge of the design, use, maintenance, and repair of equipment, tools, and materials used in the work. 
 Knowledge of traffic laws, rules, and regulations and safe driving practices. 
 Knowledge of County and landfill policies and procedures, standard operational practices, and safety regulations. 
 Knowledge of customer service and quality standards. 
 Knowledge of basic office procedures, computers, and iPads.

 Ability to make precisely coordinated movements and grasp or assemble small objects.

 Skill to safely operate vehicles, equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment. 
 Skill to prepare accurate records and reports.

 Education and Experience: 
 High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).&#xa0;Three&#xa0;(3) years of progressively responsible experience in operating heavy duty vehicles and equipment,&#xa0;or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. 
 Licenses or Certifications: 
 Must possess a valid Commercial Driver&#39;s License (CDL), Class B is required, Class A is preferred. 
 Special Requirements/Qualifications: 
 PLEASE NOTE: &#xa0;THIS IS A CDL POSITION, AND EMPLOYEES IN THIS POSITION ARE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING. 
 Weekend work is required. 
 Subject to call back in emergencies. 
 May serve in on-call duty on a rotational basis.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
 The work is regularly active with periods of heavy exertion. 								<description>Nationwide,  RRS is seeking applications for a full-time  MRF Operations Consultant/Design Engineer  to provide technical leadership for a wide range of projects related to recycling, recovery, and waste management system development. The role primarily requires technical and/or engineering execution with a secondary focus on sales and will interface with spectrum of customers, ranging from regulatory and non-profit agencies, the largest corporations in the world, national, state and local governments, product/design companies, to the waste/resource recovery value chain and its related industries.&#xa0; The ideal candidate will have strong technical and/or engineering and operations capability, written and verbal communication, and analytical skills as well a grounded experience with sales activity in their previous work history.  The position requires frequent travel.  
 &#xa0; Essential Duties:  
 
 Provide expertise to internal and external clients related to the design and operation of recovery systems with a special emphasis on recycling facilities; 
 Recommend/Review action plans for facility upgrades and/or design; 
 Analyze and forecast recovery system facility capital, operating and maintenance costs; 
 Independently write engineering reports and opinions for clients regarding recovery facilities, proformas, viability of approaches, layouts, technologies, field tests, etc. that are standard to engineering best practices; 
 Onsite management of waste sorts, material flow studies, facility feasilbity assessments and construction observation; 
 Lead efforts to develop equipment and facility design, technical specifications and procurement documents; 
 Provide strategic assistance to equipment providers; 
 Complete due diligence evaluation for facilities and/or equipment, and 
 
 Design and implement recovery system field tests to meet client specific protocols and aid in the development of recycling systems Key Qualifications:  
 
 Solid Waste, Recovery, and Recycling operational and / or engineering experience is essential; 
 Organic processing and experience a plus; 
 Strong knowledge and understanding the trajectory of equipment and equipment technology innovation deployed in recycling and waste processing; 
 Proven experience in working with equipment providers, operators and customers in the field; 
 Good industry knowledge and contacts; 
 Hands on background &#8211; likes to work on field projects, experience in industrial settings, procurement and construction planning, construction oversight and possessing some mechanical abilities; 
 Experience with capital project development; and 
 Proven ability to work with and manage team of analysts, consultants, and subject matter experts. 
 
 &#xa0; 
 Professional Skills:  
 
 Strong Math and Excel skills, modeling, and spreadsheet competency; 
 Strong design, analytical and creative problem-solving skills; 
 Experience in creating and reviewing CAD drawings using AutoCad, Vector Works, and/or equivalent software; 
 Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, including periodic public speaking, teamwork, and project management; 
 Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs in a team environment; and 
 Excellent time management skills 
 Supervisory and team leadership experience 
 
 Related Knowledge and Consulting in the following areas are a plus:  
 
 MRF Design; 
 Regulatory and permit acquisition including, but not limited to, building, site, recycling, and/or solid waste; 
 End markets for recycling commodities, i.e. mills, plastics, biofuels, compost, etc.; 
 Time/motion analytics 
 
 Minimum Qualifications  
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in environmental studies, business administration, economics, resource management, civil, mechanical or industrial engineering or related field required. Master&#8217;s Degree in civil, mechanical or industrial engineering or related field preferred. 
 A minimum of 10 years&#8217; experience in MRF Engineering or MRF Operations required; 
 P.E./other Professional Engineering certifications a plus but not required
