The person in this position is accountable for planning, organizing and reporting all solid waste activities. Other duties include: • Supporting organizational and departmental goals • Monitoring costs to ensure proper budget control and utilization of assets • Coordinating activities for improving work processes and procedures • Maintaining good communications with the general public and operating staff • Ensuring services are provided in a safe manner and within the guidelines of all local ordinances, state, and federal laws. This position requires a considerable amount of independent judgment and discretion in carrying out operations. The person in this position performs management activities to ensure the division meets the needs of customers, employees, and the Field Operations Department. This person is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and reviewing service delivery methodologies. Experience with routing and solid waste operating procedures as well as knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to Public Works and Environmental Services is vital for success. The person in this position must have or obtain Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Certified Collection Systems Manager within eighteen months of employment. The position reports to the Field Operations Deputy Director. Minimum Qualifications:  - Bachelor's degree with 4/+ years’ progressive experience in solid waste/recycling collections, or other trucking (route-based) related field culminating in the role of Section Supervisor, Superintendent, Assistant Manager, Division Manager, Assistant Director or Director)       - Or Associate's degree with 8/+ years’ progressive experience in solid waste/recycling collections, or other trucking (route-based) related field culminating in the role of Section  -    Supervisor, Superintendent, Assistant Manager, Division Manager, Assistant Director or Director  - 2 years of management and/or supervisory experience in the trucking collection/delivery field  - Routing Experience  - Budget management experience  - Valid Driver's License Preferred Qualifications:  - Bachelor's degree in business management, environmental services, or other related  - Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Certified Collection Systems Manager  - Local government experience Tue, 25 May 2021 13:15:15 -0400
