								<description>Suffolk, Virginia,  SPSA Waste Solutions is currently recruiting for a Landfill Supervisor. 
 The Landfill Supervisor will oversee the daily operation of the Landfill including but not limited to, leachate control system (SCADA), grounds and facilities maintenance. Works to ensure safe operation and compliance with all regulations. &#xa0;Proficiently operates a wide variety of heavy equipment as needed. 
 Work is performed under the general supervision of the Landfill and Environmental Manager and/or Assistant Manager. 
 
 Ability to utilize approved blueprints and landfill lift plans. Able to follow and direct established landfill operations procedures pertaining to erosion control measures within the boundary of waste and borrow areas, to determine and direct solid waste and daily cover placement efficiently. Ensure proper landfill construction by working to grade elevations while maintaining compliance with landfill design specifications. 
 
 
 Maintain open and effective communications with all SPSA departments to ensure coordinated operations. 
 
 
 Ensure adherence to all safety regulations on the landfill for employees and users. Reports defective or damaged equipment to the appropriate authority and arranges repairs. 
 
 
 Maintain necessary regulatory compliance records in all forms and track information via computer. 
 
 
 Ability to efficiently and effectively operate equipment outfitted with GPS and grade control such as compactors, dozers, articulated trucks, motor graders, front end loaders and backhoes, and assist with placement of solid waste and coverage material as necessary. 
 
 
 Ensure operators inspect equipment for proper operating condition and loose or worn parts and that they observe equipment instruments while equipment is in use and report any issues in accordance with established policies. 
 
 
 Assist landfill users by giving directions and providing information. 
 
 
 Ability to maintain the leachate control system (SCADA), logic controllers, lift-stations and pumps. 
 
 
 Ensure grounds maintenance is performed as needed on the landfill (litter pick-up, grass cutting, and seeding). 
 
 
 Supervise and complete minor facility maintenance as needed. 
 
 
 Ensures operations comply with Federal, State and Local regulations. 
 
 
 Oversees regular inspections of equipment, facilities and all landfill operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing the disposal of solid waste.

 Any combination equivalent to high school graduation and five years&#8217; experience in heavy equipment operation, two years of which must have been in a supervisory, acting supervisor or lead worker capacity overseeing heavy equipment operation. Five years of landfill experience preferred.

 The City of Folsom has an opening for an&#xa0; Environmental Specialist Supervisor , to oversee the administration of solid waste and recycling programs, which includes organic materials (per new state regulations), hazardous materials and household hazardous waste. The position is responsible for various duties, including community outreach and education; managing recycling contracts, grants, and community events such as recycling and composting workshops. This position handles sensitive customer concerns and supervises Environmental Specialists and support staff, with a focus on either recycling, organics, or hazardous waste. The position requires a bachelor&#8217;s degree in geology, environmental engineering, environmental science or related field&#xa0; AND&#xa0; five years of full-time relevant experience. Relevant experience would be specific to developing and promoting recycling programs or other environmental programs. Experience must involve at least two years of full-time supervisory or lead work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 Under direction, design, implement and oversee programs to ensure waste generated by the residents, businesses and developers in the City of Folsom is collected and handled consistent with State and Federal laws and using best practices for the protection and preservation of environmental resources. This includes identifying and contracting with vendors to accept and process the City&#8217;s waste, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials for proper disposal, recycling, or composting. Develop and provide outreach materials for all audiences including educational information for program users, training materials for personnel, presentations to executive management and City Council, and reports for regulatory agencies. Participate in regional coordination of environmental programs with other jurisdictions. Provide direct supervision to recycling administrative personnel. Responsible for all areas of the household hazardous waste operation including direct supervision of administrative and operations personnel and oversight of collection, handling, and storage of hazardous waste at the City&#8217;s household hazardous waste facility.&#xa0; Experience 
 Two (2) years of full-time experience as a Senior Environmental Specialist with the City of Folsom. 
 OR 
 Education 
 A bachelor&#39;s degree in geology, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental studies, chemistry, biology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. 
 OR &#xa0; 
 Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. 
 AND 
 Experience 
 Five (5) years of full-time experience developing and promoting recycling or resource recovery programs or other comparable Solid Waste Management or other environmental programs, including two years of full-time supervisory or leadwork experience over lower level personnel; OR, five (5) years of full-time experience in project management involving asbestos and lead-based paint related hazardous materials programs and/or facilities, including two (2) years of full-time supervisory or lead work experience over lower level personnel. 
 License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:&#xa0; 
 Possession of, or ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment.&#xa0;Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 
 Current 24 or 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response and Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Manifest training is desirable.

 Physical Requirements:
