The City of Bakersfield’s Solid Waste Division includes the largest public sector compost facility in California, a tenant operated material recycling facility (MRF) at the compost facility, a refuse and recycling collection program that is a unique combination of 50% private and 50% municipal forces, service fees that rank among the least expensive in California, and a model anti-litter job training program partnership with the Bakersfield Homeless Center. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, Engineering, or related field AND Five years progressively responsible experience in the management of solid waste operations or related managerial experience. Additional post-graduate education in the above-mentioned areas may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years. A Master’s degree will be considered equivalent to two years of the required experience. Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
