The Dane County Department of Waste & Renewables has a current vacancy for a Biogas Operations Coordinator.
Responsible for all compliance aspects of the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Plant (Biogas Plant) and the RNG off-loading station. Communicate and coordinate operations and maintenance activities of the Plant and landfill gas extraction system between the external parties and Department staff. Objectives include maximizing Plant efficiencies and revenues and ensuring that all compliance requirements associated with the EPA's renewable fuel standards and other applicable regulations and requirements are met.
Provide professional expertise and consultation services to Dane County in the areas of Plant operations, renewable fuel standards, renewable energy markets, Plant safety, and landfill gas extraction system management. This position includes a broad spectrum of responsibilities including, but not limited to compliance, auditing, financial management, contract administration, and internal and external team leadership and project management for all aspects of Plant operations.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Plan, organize, and oversee the work of internal and external parties involved in operation and maintenance of the Plant and landfill gas extraction system. Prepare, submit, and communicate reports related renewable fuel standards and other applicable regulations for the Plant and off-loading station. Track and audit transactions relating renewable fuel credits, Plant efficiencies, budgets, contracts, and expenses. Bid out and oversee contracts for operations and maintenance, professional services, and equipment purchases for the Plant and off-loading station. Maintain a high level of awareness of existing and emerging energy technologies and alternative energy applications and communicate this information to the Department.
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or Certificate in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Sustainability or Renewable Energy, Business, or Solid Waste Management is required.
Individuals with previous knowledge and experience with landfill gas, biogas, or anaerobic digestion and associated processes will be given top consideration. Training or certification in digester or biogas plant operation preferred but not required.
Must be available to work some nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies or unexpected maintenance events. Must be able to be on-call for night and weekend work.
Additional Salary Information: With quick rise to $44.50 an hour.
